Directions Class Plan for 2:30 Class

To get some practice with instructions, you will work with a group of 3 to 4 people to create a set of directions for how to get from our classroom to another location in Durham and back to the classroom.

9/23: Get started, take notes, post draft in the Forums for this class. Use your group name & "draft" as the subject.

9/25:
2:30 to 3:00: Test your directions and make any corrections.  Post the finished version in the Forums, with group name & "final" as subject.
3:00 to 3:30: Another group will try out your directions and give you feedback.
3:30 to 3:45: In-class writing will happen at the end of class.  You'll tell me what group you were in, who you worked with, and what roles you played (what you did) in the group.

Please include the names of your group members with each forum post.

These are the locations you'll provide directions to:

  1. Alpha Group: Sandy G. Dalton, ISE Course Management and Outreach Secretary (113 Durham)
  2. Bravo Group: Back door closest to Perry Street Garage (it's pouring rain, and you want to stay inside as long as possible)
  3. Charlie Group:  Dr. Jeffrey H. Reed, Director of Wireless @ Virginia Tech (432 Durham Hall)
  4. Delta Group:   Center for Engineering Logistics Distribution (CELDi) (109 Durham Hall)
  5. Echo Group:  Hume Center for National Security and Technology (454 Durham Hall)
  6. Foxtrot Group:  Mary E Kasarda, Associate Professor, ME (311 Durham)
  7. Golf Group: Allen B. MacKenzie, ECE (461 Durham)
  8. Hotel Group: Manufacturing Processes Center (189 Durham Hall)

You may assume that the person is seated in the first row in the classroom and that the person can use the stairs.

Do NOT under any circumstances bother the fine people working in the offices used in this activity.
